Family
Married before Oct 1358 4) to: Laurence Greyndour 1) 2) Died before 1375 Margaret re-married following Laurence's death. 2) Notes: Of Hadnock, Monmouthshire. Lawrence's parents are identified as Robert Greyndour and Margaret Joce, daughter of John Joce, by the Gloucestershire visitation. Whle that would provide a nice explanation for how the manor of Clearwell came into the Greyndour family, no independent primary evidence has been found to corroborate the visitation, hence that ancestry has not been included here. Child: 1. John Greyndour, Lord of Abbenhall, Knight 1) 5) 6)Born ± 1356 2) Died 11 Sep 1416 Probably in France., approximately 60 years 5) Election: Elected twice as MP for Herefordshire between 1401 and Oct 1404 1) Notes: Of Abenhall, Gloucestershire. Inherited the manor of Clearwell from his father. The Lordship of Abenhall was inherited through his mother. "Sir John Greyndore was a notable soldier and an important figure in the government of the southern Welsh marches." [HoP] John was involved in the Kings' military campaigns fighting at the Battle of Shrewsbury, and abroad in France. Alongside he received a series of lucrative appointments, including Steward and Constable of Monmouth and the Three Castles. John Grenydour held the wardship of Isabel, wife of Richard Beauchamp (Lord Abergavenny) [IPM]. He was granted the wardship (including marriage) of Isabel Blound (daughter of William Blount), April 4 1399.
